Pedestrain Safety Program

Occassionally the police will conduct education and enforcement campaigns on Traffic Safety.

Citizen's Academy

The UNCG Police Department is to create and achieve a positive relationship with the University Community by providing and understanding of basic law enforcement through our Citizen Academy.

Partnerships for a Safer Campus

The mission of the UNCG Community Relations Division is to build trust in not only the University Community but the surrounding Community as well. This is trust that the University Police and the Communities will have in working together to keep crime from taking place and to make the communities a safer place.  This is accomplished by meeting with the different departments and the residents in the community educate them on safety and how to make themselves safer in their homes / Academic Buildings and Resident Halls.

Rape Aggression Defense

The Rape Aggression Defense system is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques. The RAD system is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.

Police Ride Along Program

Participants are authorized to ride in patrol vehicles in a passenger/observer capacity only. Participants are not permitted to take any law enforcement action, assist in conducting investigations, or perform any law enforcement task or function. All persons must wear civilian clothes when participating in the ride along program. Participants must be at least 18 years old.

Campus Safety Escort

The purpose of the Student Safety Patrol, which operates out of the UNCG Police Department, is to provide safer passage for faculty, staff, students, and visitors who feel unsafe on campus after dark.

Police K-9 Program

The UNC Greensboro Police Department K-9 Unit was established in 2007. "Aja," a two-year-old female German Sheppard, completed an extensive 14 week training program with her handler Sgt. David Combs, who is a 15 year veteran. "Aja" is used to track lost persons or fleeing suspects, search for discarded or hidden evidence or contraband, detect illegal drugs, search buildings and help protect officers.
